Yes, and you should. A provider snapshot is convenient but sits in the same failure domain as the server. Every server includes an encrypted backup vault on separate storage: install Restic in the guest and send encrypted backups to it. Server compute and backup storage failing together is the scenario worth spending five minutes to avoid. The VPS backup guide covers the setup.
