Short version: run anything legal that does not hurt other people, other networks, or other customers. This policy is part of our Terms of Service and applies to every ServerCrate service.
#1. Scope
This policy covers backup vaults, cloud servers, and web hosting, and everything those services send, receive, or store. You are responsible for all activity on your account, including activity by anyone you give access to and by software running on your servers.
#2. Prohibited Content
You may not store, host, or distribute:
- child sexual abuse material of any kind. We remove it, terminate the account without notice, preserve what the law requires, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
- malware, exploit kits, phishing pages, or credential-harvesting tools aimed at systems or people you are not authorized to test
- content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
- intimate images shared without the consent of the people in them
- material that publishes someone's private information to target or harass them
- anything else that is illegal under United States or California law
#3. Prohibited Network Activity
You may not use our services to:
- send denial-of-service traffic, or run booters, stressers, or amplification services
- scan, probe, brute-force, or exploit systems you do not own or have written permission to test
- send unsolicited bulk email, or run open mail relays, open DNS resolvers, or open proxies
- run Tor exit relays (non-exit relays and bridges are allowed)
- spoof source addresses, or announce or use IP space we have not assigned to you
- operate botnet command-and-control or any other infrastructure used to control compromised machines
- get around a suspension, a block, or a limit we have applied
#4. Fair Use of Shared Resources
- Cloud servers: cryptocurrency mining is not permitted. Sustained full use of every vCPU for hours at a time, or traffic that degrades other customers, may be rate-limited. Each plan includes 3 TB of monthly transfer.
- Web hosting: transfer is metered per plan. Sites may not be used as file-sharing or download mirrors, or as backup storage for other systems.
- Backup vaults: vaults are for backups. They may not be used as a public file host or content delivery network.
#5. How We Enforce This Policy
For most problems we contact you first and give you a reasonable chance to fix them. We suspend immediately, without notice, when there is an active attack, malware or phishing being served, child sexual abuse material, or a court order or legal obligation that requires it. Repeated or serious violations end in termination, and refunds are not given for services terminated for abuse.
Backup vaults are end-to-end encrypted, and we cannot read what is inside them. Action on a vault is based on reports, legal process, and the metadata we can see, such as traffic patterns, never on inspecting your data.
#6. Reporting Abuse
Send reports to abuse@servercrate.net. Include the IP address or hostname, the date and time with time zone, and logs or other evidence. Copyright notices should identify the work and where it appears. Every report is reviewed by a member of our team.
#7. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes are announced at least 14 days before they take effect, as described in our Terms of Service.
